Montrose Reunion
The idea of a reunion was sparked by 25th Wedding Anniversary parties; the Joby’s in 1992 & the Burton’s in 1994. These occasions brought together friends who had known each other in Montrose & were so enjoyed that Janet & Brian Burton thought it would be a good idea for a few of us to meet up & in 1995 The Lakeside Hotel, Windermere was chosen as venue being relatively accessible for all.
The Burtons, the Greigs, the Jobys, the Laundons, the Leipers & the Smiths gathered & on the Saturday were guided round a walk by Brian Burton which was designed to generate an appetite. For some reason the walk took the reverse route to that intended, it included a pub lunch & other diversions. All these features turned out to be precedents for subsequent gatherings as did other features such as a rowdy meal in the Saturday evening & more walking on the following days.
The weekend was a great success & so we decided to meet up again the following year & in fact the formula has been repeated every year since then. This site is a record of the gatherings.
