2026, Portpatrick Hotel, Portpatrick, 12th to 15th May.

This year was the choice of The Greigs & present were The Burtons, The Greigs , The Laundon’s & David Joby, The Leipers & The Smiths who were unable to be there, were sincerely missed but were present in spirit.

The Group assembled.

There were 6 walkers (all but Monica) on day 1, starting out on the Southern Upland Way the coastline was stunning & we made a circular trip back via the golf course.

The climb was as steep as it looked.

& so a short recovery period was called for

In the afternoon we all visited The Logan Botanical gardens, a branch of Edinburgh Botanical Gardens, where one of us found time for deep meditation.

On day 2 the Burtons visited the book centres in Wigtown whilst the rest spent the morning at the Mull of Galloway, the most southerly point of Scotland. The Lighthouse, RSPB centre & the well stocked cafe were quite busy. Spectacular views surrounded us.

The Fog Horn looks small but requires 3 very large diesel compressors shown below to power it.

Refreshment courtesy of the Leipers was greatly appreciated.

As was the celebratory cake provided by the Greigs.
